Covid Vaccination

Covid Booster Programme

The covid booster programme has just started. These will be administered by the Puzey Practice in Rochford and they will be contacting the patients who are eligible and booking them an appointment. They will be starting with certain vulnerable groups.

The booster should be given at least 6months after the second dose and can be given at the same time as the flu jab.

The COVID-19 vaccines provide high levels of protection against hospitalisation or dying from the virus. To maintain this high level of protection through the coming winter, the JCVI is advising that booster vaccines be offered to those more at risk from serious disease, and who were vaccinated during Phase 1 of the vaccine programme (priority groups 1 to 9).

This includes:

  • those living in residential care homes for older adults
  • all adults aged 50 years or over
  • frontline health and social care workers
  • all those aged 16 to 49 years with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk of severe COVID-19, and adult carers
  • adult household contacts of immunosuppressed individuals

Please don't contact the surgery to book your appointment as we have no access to Puzey's booking system.

Covid Vaccine Passport

nhs app

Did you know you can access your COVID-19 vaccination status through the free NHS App?

Please do not contact your GP surgery about your COVID-19 vaccination status. GPs cannot provide letters showing your COVID-19 vaccination status.

Countries will decide whether they require proof of Covid vaccination for entry, and it is the traveller’s responsibility to check individual requirements.

If needed, people in England who have both vaccine doses will be able to demonstrate their Covid vaccination status via the NHS App from 17 May. Those without access to the app can request a letter from the NHS proving their vaccination status by calling 119.

We know lots of people will be eager to get protected but we are asking people not to contact us to get an appointment as you will not be able to get one until you are contacted. This is due to there only being a limited number of vaccines delivered at one time and then these have to be split across 4 practices so we asking everyone to please be patient.

The appointments are being co-ordinated by the Puzey Practice and not by us at Wakering Medical Centre and so we are therefore unable to book any appointments for these so please do not contact the surgery to try and book an appointment.

There is a new dedicated Essex Covid-19 vaccination website that has gone live that includes all the latest information and FAQs about the Covid Vaccine.

You can find it if you either click the picture above or follow this link.
